16歳でESPギタークラフトアカデミー名古屋校に入学。エレクトリック、フルアコースティックギター製作、リペア技術を学ぶ。19歳にて単身渡英し、ギター製作家クリス・エクレシャルに師事。帰国後、大手ギター工場勤務を経て2007年、静岡県南伊豆町にギター工房ヴォイジャーギターズを設立。確かな技術と枠にとらわれない発想で自身のイメージ通りのサウンドを作り上げる若手製作家。
At the age of 16, Sakurai entered the ESP Guitar Craft Academy Nagoya School, where he learned electric and full acoustic guitar making and repair techniques. At the age of 19, he moved to England to study under luthier Chris Eccleshall. After returning to Japan, he began working at a major guitar factory until, in 2007, he established Voyager Guitars, a guitar studio in Minami-Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture. Sakurai is a young and talented luthier who creates sounds that match his imagination, using advanced techniques and creative ideas.
