1979年よりフラットマンドリンの製作を始め、現在までに140台以上のマンドリンを製作している。2004年ナッシュビルで行われたIBMA(インターナショナルブルーグラスミュージックアワード）に出展、本場のブルーグラスミュージシャンから高い評価を受ける。以来アメリカでも流通するようになる。マンドリン製作で培った製作技術をギター製作にも応用し、2000年頃からはトラディショナルスタイルのフラットトップギターの製作でも高い評価を得ている。
Iwamoto began crafting flat mandolins in 1979 and has crafted over 140 mandolins to date. In 2004, he exhibited at the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Awards) held in Nashville and received high praise from authentic bluegrass musicians. Since then, his mandolins have gained popularity in the United States. In 2000, he applied the production techniques honed in mandolin production to guitar production, and his traditional style flat-top guitars have also been highly praised.
